4 mins had me questioning my life choices 🙈

Hey Reader,

I was out of town visiting my cousin last week and figured I'd try a Pilates class while I was there.

About 4 minutes in, I was already questioning the life choices that led me there.

This class was designed to be deliberately and aggressively hard.

It’s the kind of class where you look around the room wondering if everyone else is suffering as much as you are and their faces confirm that yes, they absolutely are.

I knew that going in. And still, I dropped to my knees in every plank for the entire hour.

And it was the right call every single time.

Not just because I know good movement and understand what my body specifically needs to stay strong, stable AND in good form for the whole class.

But because I also knew that powering through moves I’m not strong enough or coordinated enough for was a guaranteed way to aggravate my neck and infinitely raise my risk of getting hurt.

And I didn’t go to class to get injured - I went to have fun.

There's this idea that a workout only counts if it completely destroys you.

That if you modified, you didn't really do it or that easier means less effective.

The way I see it, what actually matters is whether you moved well.

And that your body got the input it needed without paying for it for the next three days.

A modification isn't a shortcut. It's a strategy. And knowing when to use one is actually a skill.

That’s why I filled the Video Vault with variations you can use for hundreds of exercises. I’ve even included videos that teach you progressions for planks, side planks and more.

Because you don't need every workout to kick your butt to make progress.

You just need to show up, move well, and live to tell the tale tomorrow. 💪

XO,

Hey Reader, We are so good at maintaining everything except the one thing we actually live in. The little light comes on in the car and we get the oil changed. No question, no delay. But our bodies don't come with an indicator light, so we just... wait. Until something hurts badly enough to stop us. Until we can't ignore it anymore. But you can replace a control arm. You can swap out your oil filter. But a replacement hip or knee is never quite the same as the original. And while it might not...

Hey Reader, I’ve been doing the same handful of exercises in my workouts all year, and I’ve never felt stronger. There’s so much pressure to be doing the newest, hottest, flashiest thing, but to be honest, sticking to the basics will make a world of difference. If you already make 17,492 decisions a day, making your workout even this 🤏🏻 much easier is a huge mental load off. Keeping it simple meant I stopped scrolling for inspiration before every workout. I didn’t have to stand there and try...

Hey Reader, For the first time I can remember, I tripped and totally ate it on the asphalt this week. 🫠 It was dark. I caught myself on my hands. It just really sucked. I’ve always said pain is a matter of when, not if, because life happens when you have a body that moves through the world. But so many people play small because they're afraid of exactly this kind of moment. Afraid of falling. Afraid of getting hurt. Afraid that if something goes wrong, they won't know what to do. I wasn't...
